The Conservation Cropping Systems Initiative (CCSI) was launched in 2009 with funding from the USDA – Natural Resources Conservation Service and the Indiana State Soil Conservation Board. Two project coordinators, Hans Kok and Dan Towery, were hired and an Oversight Committee was established. IASWCD administers the Initiative with Lisa Holscher, CCSI Director.

CCSI is focusing on enhancing conservation in Indiana through farmer-to-farmer networks, gathering scientific data on the effects of conservation practices on soil health, and by growing awareness and understanding of the importance of soil health.
