The Indiana Association of Soil & Water Conservation Districts (IASWCD) and the Indiana State Department of Agriculture (ISDA) will host six Summer Summit region meetings for Indiana’s 92 Soil and Water Conservation Districts in August and September 2024. Choose the location and date and join your fellow districts in learning more about Watershed Development Commissions.
Don’t miss attending one of the Summer Summits where statewide experts will provide insights to SWCDs on Watershed Development Commissions and their implications for districts and conservation in Indiana.
Details: In 2023, the Indiana legislature passed a law allowing for the creation of Watershed Development Commissions (WDCs IC 14-30.50) which include a position for SWCDs on an advisory board. WDC actions can affect conservation and water quality, so SWCDs need to be knowledgeable of how WDCs can be formed, managed, and help achieve mutual goals. Experts from across the state will introduce SWCDs to WDCs and share their perspective on what this means for Districts and conservation in Indiana.
