Statehouse Updates

While the legislature is in session, IASWCD tracks bills of interest to conservationists and Clean Water Indiana funding, and sends regular updates to SWCD staff and supervisors across the state. Indiana’s legislature is only in session for part of the year, typically starting in January and ending in March or April depending on whether it’s a “short” session (no budget decisions made) or a “long” session (budget decisions made). Long sessions are every other year on odd years, and are of particular importance to SWCDs as that is when our Clean Water Indiana budget is determined.

Throughout the year, it is helpful to stay in touch with your legislators in order to show them the value of Clean Water Indiana and conservation in their districts.
